New Fujifilm X H2 – The Highest Image Quality In The History Of The X Series

The X H2 includes the new back-illuminated 40.2MP “X-TransTM CMOS 5 HR” sensor and the high-speed “X-Processor 5,” producing the highest resolution stills and becoming the world’s first APS-C camera to support 8K/30P Apple ProRes* internal recording.

The improved sensor’s improvement in image quality is supported by sophisticated features such as the ISO125 minimum standard, a maximum shutter speed of 1/180000 sec with the electronic shutter, and the PIXEL SHIFT MULTI SHOT to enhance visual expressions. The X H2 also includes shooting-assist functions and interfaces, such as subject-detection AF based on Deep Learning technology, which automatically detects and tracks a broader range of subjects like animals and birds, five-axis and up to seven stops of in-body image stabilization, 0.8x magnification and 5.76 million dot EVF, and a card slot compatible with CFexpressTM Type B card, ensuring that users can enjoy the X H2

Fujifilm X H2 vs X H2s

With the debut of the high-resolution flagship model X H2, the “X-H series” now has two lines in addition to the high-speed flagship model FUJIFILM X-H2S. The fast flagship model X H2S excels at photographing moving subjects, whilst the high-resolution flagship model xh2 mirrorless camera produces remarkable image quality that exceeds the format’s standard quality limit. Fujifilm promises that with dual-flagship models, it can meet all of the shooting demands of professional photographers and videographers.

The X-H2 release date is expected in early October with the Fujifilm X-H2 price starting at £1899 – pre-orders can be made here for Free.

Live in detail with the world’s first 40-megapixel APS-C sensor

The X H2 combines the tiny and lightweight mobility of APS-C mirrorless cameras with an unrivalled back-side illuminated X-Trans CMOS 5 HR imaging sensor, making it ideal for the next generation of hybrid image producers. X-H2 sensor has 40 megapixels of resolution, bringing the intricacies of any photograph to life. With an optimised pixel layout that promises exceptional detail, unrivalled colour accuracy, and impressive video flexibility, these game-changing features are only possible with the X-Processor 5, which delivers lightning-fast performance, 8K/30p video, enhanced autofocus capabilities, and black-out free image bursts at 15fps. Not to mention that it is 10% more efficient than its predecessor in terms of battery performance.

Discover true creative flexibility with 8K video

The X H2 8K video resolution provides filmmakers with various options for realising the camera’s full potential. From being able to use the camera’s 2x digital zoom to expand the focal length of any lens when recording up to 4K, to generating superb 4K footage by downsampling from the camera’s higher resolution, the X H2 delivers a range of video capabilities that make it ideal for every moviemaking occasion.

Using a CFexpress Type B card, Apple ProRes 10-bit 4:2:2 video may be recorded internally at up to 8K/30p, while 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW1 or Blackmagic RAW2 film can be recorded to compatible external devices* through the full-size HDMI Type-A connector on the side of the camera. Furthermore, when recording video with the F-Log2 colour profile, the X-dynamic H2’s range increases to 13+ stops – a one-stop boost over the prior sensor, increasing post-production versatility.

The X H2 can also record continuously for up to 160 minutes at 25°C (77°F), which may be increased to 240 minutes by using the optional clip-on fan.

Power and control whenever needed

X H2 has a feature set designed to support creatives in their pursuit of the ultimate stills or video. Improved in-body image stabilization (IBIS), for example, offers seven stops of compensation and features an enhanced algorithm that

improves motion detection. This produces shake-free results in more scenarios than ever before, most notably when panning or following subjects on foot for video.

For stills photographers, full-resolution images can be recorded at an incredible 15 frames-per-second when using the mechanical shutter, while those switching to the electronic shutter can work at 20fps in the 1.29x crop factor option. Further high-speed options are provided by the electronic shutter’s 1/180,000 sec top speed, while photographers seeking optimum quality will welcome the lower minimum ISO 125.

An X Series first: Pixel Shift Multi-Shot

The X H2 is the first X Series camera to include Pixel Shift Multi-Shot, which produces 160-megapixel photos for the best quality when every detail counts. Pixel Shift Multi-Shot, a GFX System camera standard, captures 20 frames, changing the sensor by 0.5 pixels between each frame. The resulting photographs are automatically merged into a single DNG RAW file, which may then be converted to the chosen file format using RAW processing software. This revolutionary capability is essential for archive recording and other commercial applications where colour integrity and fine detail are critical. Using Pixel Shift Multi-Shot assures that false colours and moiré effects are reduced to the point of being non-existent.

A complete workflow solution

The X H2 is a genuine multimedia creative tool due to its extensive variety of wired and wireless alternatives for exchanging picture and video data. The camera body offers wireless picture sharing through the Fujifilm Remote Camera App and native webcam resolutions of up to 4K/60p for high-quality live streaming. The optional VFT-XH Wireless File Transmitter Battery Grip, on the other hand, expands capabilities even further. The grip has tethering and FTP file transfer through Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and smartphone connections, as well as the Remote Rec capability. This allows up to four camera bodies equipped with VFT-XH battery grips to be linked and controlled via a web browser on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
