Hasselblad 907X & CFV 100C Overview
The Hasselblad 907X & CFV 100C brings analog charm to the digital age. This unique camera pairs a 100-megapixel digital back with a striking body that pays homage to Hasselblad’s legendary V System film cameras, the choice of luminaries like Ansel Adams. That same spirit now manifests in the 907X body, which will be instantly recognizable to photography enthusiasts. Hasselblad 907X & CFV 100C Features In Detail

Iconic Analog Design
In an era dominated by cold, clinical designs, the 907X & CFV 100C stands apart with its unabashedly retro aesthetic that recalls analog glory days. Drawing inspiration from Hasselblad’s legendary V System film cameras which have graced the kit of luminaries like Ansel Adams, this camera pleasingly mimics a vintage look. Photographers tired of homogenous modern cameras will appreciate the handsome leatherette exterior, sleek chrome edges, tactile analog dials, and waist-level shooting style that evoke the romance of photography’s beginnings. Shooting with this medium format digital hybrid lets you reconnect with the artistry that drew you to the craft in the first place.
Modular Flexibility
The 907X & CFV 100C brings Hasselblad’s signature modularity into the 21st century. At its core lies the 100MP CFV digital back which powers three distinct shooting configurations for boundless creativity. Connected to the spare 907X body and XCD autofocus lenses, it functions as a highly compact medium format camera adept at travel photography and street documentary Photography. Attached to a Hasselblad V film body, it resuscitates those mechanical classics to output glorious 100MP images through their treasured HC and HCD optics. It can alternatively equip technical view cameras for extremely precise capture suited to reproduction, architecture or artwork documentation needs.
100MP CMOS Sensor
An abundance of resolution affords tremendous flexibility especially when cropping. And immense level of details in a Hasselblad RAW or 10-bit HEIF file reveals every subtle texture as you zoom in post-production. But sheer resolution alone means nothing without the dynamic range and noise-free quality to make full use of all those pixels. That’s why Hasselblad chose a backside-illuminated 100MP CMOS sensor capable of outstanding ISO 64-25600 sensitivity. Combined with 15 stops of dynamic range and Hasselblad’s brilliant colour science, scenes are rendered with such fidelity and nuance you can almost step inside the photograph.

Powerful Processor & Storage
Processing 100MP images quickly would overwhelm lesser camera systems. Fortunately the Hasselblad generation 3 CPU rapidly crunches all that visual data thanks to strong noise reduction algorithms plus excellent JPEG and RAW compression. This along with the speedy built-in 1TB SSD storage solution enables you to review photos instantly without waiting for a buffer to clear. You can even directly edit full-size RAW files on a laptop or iPad Pro with ease using Phocus Mobile 2 software, saving the hassle of offloading cards while out in the field. With such robust processing & storage capabilities in a portable package, professionals finally have a versatile medium format option for remote shoots.
TTL Flash Connectivity
While ambient light often suffices for medium format work, there may be situations that require artificial lighting. Luckily, the 907X & CFV 100C kit includes a handy hot shoe adapter that mounts onto the digital back, enabling support for TTL flashes or trigger systems. By pairing flashes, you can thus achieve high sync speeds beyond the physical X sync port’s capability for creative flash work.
Remote Post-Processing Solution
Thanks to built-in WiFi and compatibility with Hasselblad’s Phocus Mobile 2 iOS app, you attain significant flexibility when working in the studio or field. Transmit full sizes JPGs or RAW photos instantly to your iPad or iPhone for editing, processing uisng Hasselblad colour science, then export final delivery-ready files. This untethers you from the laptop allowing quicker turnaround without having to offload images physically to external drives. Creatives who routinely need to send proofs to clients on assignment will appreciate this handy capability.

Intuitive Touchscreen Interface
Fiddly menus and poorly laid-out controls have no place in the Hasselblad ecosystem. Their brilliant user interface returns in the 907X & CFV 100C to let you fluidly operate the system after just a few minutes of familiarisation. Almost all shooting parameters can be adjusted via the responsive tilt-angle touchscreen. Icons and text are crystal clear on its high resolution 2.36MP display. Touch AF and playback zoom also integrate here intuitively. Should you prefer analog inputs, optional accessories like the control grip provide access to dials, joysticks and custom buttons tailored to your muscle memory. But you likely won’t need them given how intuitive and streamlined operation is on that touch interface.
Vast Lens Selection
While the 907X works excellently with native XCD lenses, what sets this camera apart is its cross-generational lens compatibility. Via adapters it opens up Hasselblad’s entire optical archives for creative utilization. Make use of the occupancy lens matching feature to digitally correct vintage HC and HCD glass optimized for film. Rekindle your love affair with those gorgeously rendering yet affordable Zeiss, Schneider and Fujinon lenses you could never part with. Pull out your Sinar technical camera and outfit it for digital with tilt/swing capabilities that max out the sensor’s resolution. Or go ultra wide utilising XPan optics. No other mirrorless system grants such versatility to exploit legacy mediums.
Travel-Ready Ergonomics
Don’t let its wafer-thin profile fool you – the 907X & CFV 100C can withstand life on the road. Despite stratospheric resolution output, the whole two-part kit weighs just 780 grams including battery & card. Comfortable handheld shooting is thus possible even without dual-grip reinforcement. Its compact form minus protruding flaps or prisms makes stowing in small camera bags for long treks or expeditions feasible. Ruggedised construction including an internal magnesium chassis, external leatherette coat, and dual SD card slots endow this lithe system with reliability. Connect USB-C charging and file transfer ports straight to laptops in far-flung locations lacking stable power outlets. The freedom to roam wildernesses without sacrificing imaging performance is what beckons landscape and travel photographers towards the transportable 907X & CFV 100C.

Photography Styles for the Hasselblad 907X & CFV 100C

- Portrait Photography – Shallow depth of field aesthetically isolates subjects with smooth tonality courtesy of the high resolution BSI sensor.

Our Take on the Hasselblad 907X & CFV 100C Review
Immediately striking when first handling the 907X body is how solid and refined it feels for such diminutive proportions. Hasselblad used an aluminium inner chassis encased in a handsome leatherette shell with beautifully knurled metal dials. Despite its light 620g weight for the body and back, nothing feels plasticky or hollow here.
All key shooting controls mimic the analog predecessors. A lens shutter button with half-press activation. An aperture adjustment dial featuring a locking button to set exposure. An ergonomic side-mounted shutter speed selector. These physical inputs work with satisfying precision just like the V system.
The rear tilting touchscreen looks vibrant and fluid. Icons and menu navigation are intuitive unlike most mirrorless cameras. Tethering the camera to my phone was simply a matter of tapping a software option.
Looking through scenes on that waist-level screen with the camera cradled naturally in my hands, I felt a relaxing sense of freedom compositionally. Unencumbered by a fixed viewfinder vision I saw images forming organically, not governed by technical considerations. It jogged fond memories learning on my grandfather’s Rolleiflex.
Venturing out onto the streets, alternated between using the discreet waist-level perspective and attaching the prism viewfinder for candid images. The phase detect AF, while no speed demon, efficiently locked focus for unposed portraits. Outdoors under ample lighting, I almost forgot this was medium format the way handheld shots came out sharp with unreal details within files numbering 100+ megapixels!
Truly, the 907X & CFV 100C grants photographers immense versatility typically unavailable in large sensor cameras. From its portable form factor to adaptable shooting styles tied together by renowned Hasselblad aesthetics, I’ve never enjoyed photography more!
