lazy

The Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VXD Lens establishes a new category of high-performance ultra-telephoto mirrorless zoom lenses. With an unprecedented 8x zoom ratio that begins at 50mm (commonly referred to as the standard focal length for full-frame cameras), this new ultra-telephoto zoom lens for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras is the same size as conventional 100-400mm zoom lenses but offers a wider angle of view on the wide end for excellent versatility. The lens is planned for sometime during fall 2022 and is now available to order here.

Overview of the Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD (Model A067)

The Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD is astonishingly tiny, measuring only 18.3cm in length and weighing only 1.155g, but it delivers unsurpassed high performance at all focal lengths. Despite the high magnification ratio, the effective arrangement of special lens elements ensures high image quality across the entire 50-400mm range. The lens is equipped with Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, which provides superior quietness and responsiveness, as well as Tamron’s unique image stabilisation system VC (Vibration Compensation).

With a MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 25cm at the 50mm end, users may enjoy the world of half-macro photography with up to one-half life-size magnification during tight focus. The filter size is 67mm, which is the same as most other Tamron lenses for mirrorless cameras, making it easier to use numerous lenses together.

The lens also has ergonomic characteristics that promote comfortable shooting, such as a redesigned lens design with better texture and operability, and a Connector Port for the exclusive Tamron Lens UtilityTM, which Tamron invented. Tamron Lens Utility now has a ‘Focus Limiter’ option for this Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD. When utilising a tripod, an Arca-Swiss compatible auxiliary tripod mount is offered as an alternative.

Overall, the Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD is a highly portable, flexible zoom lens that guarantees users never miss a shooting opportunity, with focal lengths ranging from 50mm standard to 400mm ultra-telephoto. Tamron has created an entirely new category of ultra-telephoto-mirrorless zoom lenses with this groundbreaking offering.

Fast and precise AF, plus VC for stable handheld shooting

The 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 lens has the well-known VXD linear motor focus system. This sophisticated AF mechanism combines class-leading speed and precision, allowing for quick and precise focusing from MOD (Minimum Object Distance) to infinity. The lens has TAMRON’s patented VC mechanism, which effectively reduces camera shake when shooting at telephoto focal lengths. It also aids in the reduction of blurry images while shooting handheld in low-light circumstances, which normally necessitate shorter shutter speeds.

Half-macro photography with 1:2 magnification ratio at the 50mm end

When photographing close-ups, the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 performs admirably, especially for an ultra-telephoto zoom lens. At the 50mm zoom setting, users may experience half-macro shooting with a MOD of 0.25m (9.8 in) and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2. Furthermore, the MOD at the 400mm telephoto end is 1.5m (59.1 in), enabling a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 for spectacular, dramatic pictures. The unparalleled amount of shooting flexibility displays the allure of subjects more than ever before, as well as versatile shooting alternatives hitherto unknown in ultra-telephoto zooms.

“Focus Limiter” function now added to the TAMRON Lens Utility

TAMRON Lens Utility software, which was developed in-house, is compatible with the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 lens. Through the lens, users may personalise the functionalities and quickly upgrade the software. Additionally, with the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 Lens, you may use the “Focus Limiter” option to limit the focus search range of the AF for Model A083. This feature reduces the amount of time it takes to refocus a topic once it has slipped out of focus and avoids focusing on obstructions in front of a subject. The Focus Set Button rapidly toggles the feature, ensuring that you never miss an unexpected photo opportunity.

Originally developed software ‘Tamron Lens Utility’ for lens function customization.

Tamron’s 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD will be compatible with the sophisticated ‘Tamron Lens Utility’ software, which was created entirely by Tamron. The programme will also include a new function dubbed ‘Focus Limiter.’ By connecting the lens via its Connector Port through the optional Tamron Connection Cable, you may use the ‘Tamron Lens Utility’ on your own computer. Instead of using the camera, users may tweak the features and update the firmware via the lens. Personalization allows for various shooting options, such as still photography or videography, to meet the shooting scenario.
