Ultra-Compact, Lightweight Design
Weighing only 154 grams and measuring just 49.3mm in length, the M.Zuiko 9-18mm F4.0-5.6 II is extremely portable. You can comfortably carry this lens all day without fatigue. Its compact size means you’ll always want to bring it along, letting you take advantage of wide perspectives wherever you go. No more being weighed down by heavy ultra-wide zooms.
Versatile Wide-Angle Focal Range
With a focal length range equivalent to 18-36mm in 35mm format, this zoom lens provides versatile wide-angle coverage for dramatic perspectives not possible with standard lenses. At 18mm, you get an extra-expansive 100° angle of view to emphasise foreground subjects, while 36mm is ideal for landscapes and tight indoor shots. The 2x zoom range lets you frame scenes creatively.
Fast, Quiet Autofocus
An internal focusing system driven by a fast, quiet MSC motor provides smooth, accurate autofocus for both stills and video recording. You don’t have to worry about noisy AF motor sounds ruining your video footage. Focus breathing is minimized as well.
Close-Up Shooting
Unique for an ultra-wide zoom, the 9-18mm lens can focus as close as 0.25m at all focal lengths. This allows you to shoot eye-catching close-up photos of flowers, leaves, and other tiny subjects with an emphasis on the wide perspective. A maximum magnification of 0.2x is possible at 18mm.
Enhanced Optics
The optical design incorporates one ED lens and one DSA lens to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion. Together with one aspherical lens and one HR lens, this advanced formula delivers excellent sharpness and clarity across the frame.
Seven-Rounded Aperture Blades
The 7-blade circular aperture produces smooth out-of-focus highlights in the shape of the aperture. This attractive background blur is especially important for landscape images and portraits.
Durable Metal Lens Barrel
The lens barrel is crafted from lightweight metal for durability and resistance to typical wear and tear. Metal parts include the lens mount, zoom ring, focus ring, and external barrel. The lens feels solid in your hands.
Weather-Sealed Construction
The lens features weather-sealed construction, with sealing applied at 7 crucial points to protect the interior from dust, splashes and freezing temperatures. You can feel confident using this lens to capture wide perspectives even in inclement weather.
Lens Coating
To suppress flare and ghosting which is important for wide-angle lenses, Olympus applies their advanced ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) lens coating to individual elements for maximum effectiveness. This ensures excellent contrast and colour fidelity even when shooting toward the sun.
Manual Focus Override
The lens provides a convenient manual focus override option for fine-tuning focus or making adjustments in challenging lighting where autofocus can struggle. The focus ring rotates smoothly for precise control over the focus point. A handy distance scale is etched onto the lens as well for zone-focusing capabilities.
