The Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 II is the new flagship Micro Four Thirds camera designed for stills photographers. As the successor to the popular DC-G9, this camera features a complete redesign with major improvements to autofocus, image stabilisation, burst shooting speed, video capabilities, and more.
Key upgrades include a new 25MP sensor, 5-axis in-body image stabilisation rated to 8 stops, on-sensor phase detection AF, high-res mode up to 100MP, 60fps burst shooting with the electronic shutter, 5.7K 60p video, USB-C charging and external SSD recording. It’s built to capture fast action and deliver professional-level results in a rugged, weather-sealed body.
The price of the LUMIX DC-G9 II may vary depending on the region, retailer, or any potential promotions or bundles.
At the heart of the G9 II is a 25MP Live MOS sensor paired with an updated Venus processing engine. It provides improved dynamic range with dual gain output technology while also enabling fast sensor readout for the camera’s advanced autofocus and burst capabilities.
For the first time in a Lumix G camera, the G9 II features on-sensor phase detection pixels across nearly the entire frame. This hybrid AF system combines with contrast detection for fast, accurate autofocus and subject tracking even with fast-moving subjects.
In-body 5-axis image stabilisation provides up to 8 stops of shake correction according to CIPA standards, making it easy to capture sharp images even with slow shutter speeds or long telephoto lenses. Sync IS synchronises the in-body and optical stabilisation for even better performance.
Capture fast action with 60fps burst shooting using the electronic shutter or 10fps using the mechanical shutter. Pre-burst mode continuously buffers shots before shutter press to prevent missing a moment.
The G9 II boasts up to 5.7K 60p video internally and outputs 10-bit 4:2:2 over HDMI. It includes C4K at 120fps for beautiful slow motion. V-Log captures flat profiles for advanced colour grading.
With extensive weather sealing, the G9 II is dust, splash and freeze proof down to 14°F / -10°C. The large hand grip provides secure handling, while the EVF and free-angle touchscreen excel for eye-level or flexible shooting.
USB-C with USB 3.2 speeds allows recording video to an external SSD. Fast charging and power delivery over USB-C enhances endurance. There are ports for mic, headphones, HDMI and more.
The G9 II brings major upgrades over the original G9 across the board. Key improvements include:

The Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 II is the long-awaited update to the company's flagship Micro Four Thirds camera aimed at stills photographers. This impressive new model shows Panasonic has been listening to feedback from users and makes major leaps forward in nearly every aspect.
At the camera's heart is a new 25MP Live MOS sensor providing excellent resolution and dynamic range. It's paired with a speedy new image processor allowing for incredibly fast burst shooting up to 60fps with the electronic shutter. Autofocus sees a major boost with the addition of on-sensor phase detection for precise subject tracking of moving subjects.
Panasonic has also significantly stepped up the video capabilities, making the G9 II tempting for hybrid shooters. It can now shoot silky smooth 4K at 120fps along with 5.7K 60p internal recording. The V-Log profile captures flat footage ready for colour grading.
The in-body 5-axis stabilization has been improved to offer up to 8 stops of shake correction, living up to the "liberate your creativity" tagline. This opens new possibilities for shooting in low light, at long focal lengths, and in challenging situations.
Ergonomics have been overhauled with the adoption of a new design language first seen in the S5 series. The larger hand grip is very comfortable and puts key controls like the joystick and video record button right at your fingertips. The fully articulating touchscreen makes creative angles a breeze.
Connectivity is excellent with USB-C, a full size HDMI port, headphone and mic jacks, and support for charging and external recording over USB. Dual UHS-II SD card slots provide flexibility for storage and there's built-in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth for wireless control.
For Micro Four Thirds shooters seeking a top-of-the-line stills camera with robust video features, the G9 II delivers on all fronts. It's a superbly capable camera that earns our highest recommendation.
