However, after testing this versatile optic, I’m thoroughly impressed by its capabilities as an exceptional travel and walkaround lens for L-mount shooters.
Make no mistake – the minuscule size and weight of the 28-200mm is its party piece. Weighing only 14.6 ounces, this all-in-one zoom is extremely portable, making it an ideal hiking, vacation and everyday lens. Unlike some competitors, image quality is not significantly sacrificed by the small size. While maximum sharpness is achieved around f/5.6-f/8, images remain crisp across the frame even at wider apertures, helped by effective optical stabilization that delivers up to 6.5 stops of correction.
The 28-200mm truly shines in its versatility. The wide 28mm coverage is useful for landscapes and environmental shots.
