Finding it difficult to keep yourself entertained and busy while stuck at home? We’ve got some tips to help you.
This is the perfect time to do those things you never quite had time for before the lockdown. As a photographer, how many pictures do you think you possess? If you are like me it’s probably thousands on your memory cards, phone, tablet, cloud storage, films negatives and albums.
Why not take this time out to sort through your pictures?
Digital pictures can be edited, and filed securely. Once you have done this you might find yourself needing extra hard drive space and a need to calibrate your screen.
Once you have done this, why not print out some of your best pictures? We seem to have forgotten what a joy it is to look through your work in a hard copy. It doesn’t have to be all pictures: Choose your best and if they are spectacular why not enlarge them or even canvas print them.
You can still print from home using the Fuji Imagine app and we are still processing. The Fuji Imagine app can even help you create photo books and other photo gifts. These can make great presents to your family and friends during these strange times.
While cleaning up the house I have also come across loads of my pictures and albums from the pre-digital era. Some have begun to deteriorate. So take the time to check yours. Save these memories now! Scanning from a negative is the best way, however if you only have the image this can be scanned to. There are a good range of simple to use scanners to help you achieve this. Kenro, Plustek and Epson are 3 that spring to mind instantly.
Once the images are scanned you can file them away and share on social media, but printing them out is still the best method. If they have really deteriorated, do not fear, they can be resurrected with editing software.
You can also do this with your old video and cine films. We have an excellent service where these movies can be transferred to DVD. This will then digitalise the film and make it so much easier for you to store and watch in the future.
If you are ready to dive into your photos, film and video then feel free to get in touch with us. We’re here to help you enjoy your photography, even when you’re stuck at home.
Look after yourself.
