A firm favourite with professional photographers, the 70-200mm, f2.8 now has four stops of image stabilisation, combined with the robust (moisture and dust resistant) construction and great control of depth of field.
The image quality of this lens is superb thanks to several design factors. A fluorite lens element is used to minimise chromatic aberration plus a total of five UD (Ultra Low Dispersion) elements keep images razor-sharp with high contrast and colour fidelity right through the zoom range.
Attractive Out-of-Focus Areas
With the combination of a wide f2.8 maximum aperture and 8-blade circular diapragm, out-of-focus areas will be pleasingly soft, without hard-edged geometric patterns.
Fast and Flexible Focusing
The ring-type USM motor has full time manual focus override which means that you don’t have to switch out of autofocus. With an improved minimum focus of 1.2m, this lens is also well suited to closeup photography.
