The large maximum aperture of the Canon EF 28mm makes excellent background blur possible even with a fast shutter speed. The aspherical lens element makes the lens compact and corrects spherical aberrations. The resulting image is sharp even at the edges.
The image stabilisation mechanism built into this lens will correct for camera shake to give up to four more stops in low light.
The world famous Canon Ultrasonic autofocus system has been much copied and with good reason as it provides fast, near-silent focusing. This lens also has Full Time Manual Focus override, which means that you can manually focus the lens at any time, simply by twisting the focus barrel, and without needing to flick any switches.
Super Spectra Coatings
Designed specially for DSLR cameras, this coating rapidly reduces internal reflections and so prevents ghosting and flare effects.
The 7-bladed diaphragm enclosed in this lens will give a pleasing softness to out-of-focus backgrounds, otherwise known as good "bokeh".
