Versatile with its reach, the Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens is a Sports-series lens offering a flexible telephoto zoom range, along with an advanced optical and physical design. A series of low dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range and contribute to greater clarity and color accuracy. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been employed to control ghosting and flare for improved contrast when working in strong lighting conditions.

Features of the Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens

  • Aperture Range: f/5 to f/22
  • Two FLD Elements, Three SLD Elements
  • Super Multi-Layer Coating
  • Hyper Sonic Motor AF System
  • OS Image Stabilization
  • Fixed, Rotating Tripod Collar
  • Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm
By incorporating excellent optical glass elements, it minimizes chromatic aberration and achieves class leading image quality.

The Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens incorporates 2 FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements, which have performance equal to fluorite and 3 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, and compensates for color aberration at the utmost. Chromatic aberration in particular, which could be visible especially towards the telephoto end even when stopped down, is corrected by the optimized design of glass elements including FLD lenses.

* FLD glass is the highest level low dispersion glass available with extremely high light transmission. This optical glass has a performance equal to fluorite glass which has a low refractive index and low dispersion compared to current optical glass. It also benefits from high anomalous dispersion. These characteristics give excellent correction for residual chromatic aberration (secondary spectrum) which cannot be corrected by ordinary optical glass and ensures high definition and high contrast images.

Flare and ghosting reduction

From an early stage in the Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens design process, flare and ghosting have been measured to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlighting. SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions.

Rounded diaphragm

When photographing with point light sources such as electric lights or reflections on a body of water in the background, the rounded 9-blade diaphragm helps produce an attractive bokeh effect – even at large-aperture settings.

Complementing the optics is a Hyper Sonic Motor that provides especially fast and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override. An Optical Stabilizer also works to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting. Additionally, a rotating tripod collar is integrated into the lens’s design to suit working atop a tripod or monopod.
